The Senior IT Systems Administrator performs highly complex duties related to network, server and application administration including solution definition, application deployment, configuration and integration, ERP architecture, database management, and network administration. Additionally, will lead the design, development, installation, integration, administration and maintenance of Linkabit servers and applications; manage and optimize servers, and application performance and interoperability to enable Linkabit employees to accomplish their requirements and service objectives; develop and administer security processes and insure against unauthorized access; manage network devices, monitor network performance, and manage secure remote access; and perform related duties as assigned. This position will perform technology design and implementation activities as directed, and is accountable to implement and execute the enterprise architecture, solution engineering, and standards and strategy across the Linkabit enterprise.
Additional responsibilities include: network device management, VPN, VoIP, patch and compliance management, and core applications within Managed Information Systems and Engineering Information Systems, including selection, upgrades, deployment and administration; developing and performing disaster recovery and performance monitoring procedures to ensure business continuation; server and application administration; storage management and SAN migration; server consolidation and VM expanded utilization, trouble-shooting and fault isolation; and configuration and integration of multi-vendor solutions in a predominantly Dell and Microsoft environment.
Position requires a BS in computer science/engineering or related field and at least 10 years experience in selecting, design engineering, solution engineering, project engineering, integrating and implementing infrastructure technologies and services, data center consolidation and related technologies. Must have at least 10 years of Windows 2003/2008 Server administration and server hardware configuration and maintenance. Must have a minimum of 10 years of Microsoft Exchange and Outlook, XP & Windows 7 OS, networking, DNS, DHCP and Active Directory. Must have at least 5 years experience in managing multi-terabyte network storage, backup/restore, and disaster recovery of Linux, Windows and Exchange server farm. At least 5 years of experience with Microsoft or VMware virtualization technologies is required. Previous experience with Dell, VMware, Citrix, Symantec, NetBackup, and VoIP management is preferred. Previous experience with Deltek, TIP and SolidWorks application suites is a plus. Vendor certifications or training in the following are preferred: MCSA, MCSE, MCITP, CompTIA, CCNA/P, CCIE, VCP5.
Must have demonstrated skills in developing a technology plan, including technical approach, as well as the related business case for the use of that technology. Must have strong background and understanding of the technical direction and the prevailing standards for technologies in scope, including network architecture, data center server consolidation, VM, and SAN. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build consensus and to present complex presentations are required. Must have ability to explain complex technical detail and tradeoffs to non-technical associates.
Experience with technology based cost modeling and planning; analytical and problem solving skills involving data based decisions; organization skills; process implementation and execution experience; attention to detail; and strong focus on accountability.
Must be results driven and have a deep and broad knowledge of a full range of client, server and distributed computing hardware and systems management, application infrastructure, data center consolidation and related operating system and supporting technologies, design standards and options. Must possess strong knowledge of vendor community for full range of infrastructure technologies including but not limited to client, server, database, network and operating systems. Must have ability to work on several projects simultaneously with constant interruptions. Must have practical problem solving skills and solid troubleshooting skills.
Technologies in Scope include: LAN/WAN/DMZ network design and management; server configuration and management; platform integration, sizing, and performance modeling tools; SAN and storage provisioning; disaster recovery; data replication strategies; Microsoft Windows Server Editions; Linux; Citrix; Microsoft Active Directory; Exchange 2007 and 2010 environments; BES; Good; Virtualization tools and technologies to include VMWare; Enterprise backup technologies to include VERITAS Netbackup; performance and benchmarking tools; and system monitoring and administration across server platforms.
