The College of Education at Florida State University invites applications from candidates for a position as an Assistant in Education (Reading/Language Arts background is preferred) at the Panama City Campus. This position is a 12-month, non-tenure track faculty appointment with responsibilities in teaching, advising, and student recruiting. Instructional duties involve both daytime and evening classes. The position begins fall 2013 and is renewable on an annual basis. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Screening of applications will continue until position is filled.
Qualifications: Earned Ph.D or Ed.D in Curriculum and Instruction, Elementary Education, Reading/Language Arts, or related field is required. The successful candidate must also have prior K-12 (elementary preferred) teaching experience. Previous experience working with student teachers and collegiate teaching experience is preferred. In addition, the candidate should have demonstrated success working with diverse school populations, show evidence of ability to collaborate with colleagues in related academic disciplines, and have some familiarity with accreditation processes.
Responsibilities: Include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, advising undergraduates, supervising master’s students, recruiting students, working collaboratively with the Tallahassee: College of Education & School of Teacher Education, and engaging in local, university, state and national service.
The Florida State University at Panama City is located 100 miles west of Tallahassee on beautiful North Bay and is only three miles from the Gulf of Mexico. To complement the local community college, the Panama City Campus offers courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
