SUMMARY
U nder the direction of an attending anesthesiologist and working member of the medically directed anesthesia care team, the CRNA assist in providing direct patient care during the perioperative period, for patients ranging from neonates through adulthood.
To provide direct patient care during the perioperative period, utilizing current acceptable standards for care and monitoring. Insures the anesthesia department has all necessary equipment, supplies, drugs and instruments in the O.R. and tests anesthesia equipment for proper functioning. Prepares the O.R. with the necessary anesthesia supplies, equipment, drugs and intravenous solution; undertakes the plan of anesthesia as directed by the anesthesiologist. Utilizes skill, knowledge and judgement to observe, report and record relevant patient information. Communicates well with anesthesiologist and surgeon.; Maintains an ongoing knowledge of the field of anesthesia.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Education
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Registered as a nurse within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts ; Graduate of an accredited school for nurse anesthetists. Current certification as a nurse anesthetist;
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Massachusetts RN and CRNA license.
Current CPR certification. On-site CPR to maintain certification.
Orientation to Hospital and departmental standards.
On-going knowledge of the field of Anesthesia.
Current PALS and ACLS certification.
