Job Description Summary
The programmer/analyst will provide support for the Oracle-based Ellucian Banner system and other administrative applications running on multiple hardware and software platforms. Devise and maintain computer programs and related procedures to process data, resolve problems, and ensure data and system integrity. Work closely with clients and peers to apply systems analysis and design techniques to analyze and evaluate business and/or educational needs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)
• Analyze functional business requirements and recommend technical solutions.
• Work individually and with project teams to evaluate, recommend, implement and integrate hardware and software solutions to support project requirements.
• Develop and document logical code for efficient program execution.
• Ensure data and system integrity.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of advances in information systems technology, including software development tools and techniques.
Required Education (minimum requirements)
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management of information systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
Required Experience (minimum requirements)
Two years relevant experience using SQL / relational databases.
Experience with program development applications/tools.
Experience developing web based applications.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop environment.
Desirable Education and/or Experience
Experience writing and maintaining Java based code to support business processes.
Experience in other programming languages (e.g., PL/ SQL , XSQL , Perl, C, C++).
Experience using Oracle or other SQL -based tools.
Experience working in an academic environment.
Experience with current releases of Oracle Application Server.
Experience using Ellucian Banner products.
Working knowledge of Unix or Linux operating systems.
Experience developing Oracle Forms and/or Reports.
