The College of Arts and Sciences is seeking an experienced web application developer and trainer to enhance our web environment and teach web technology courses.

Application Development responsibilities include: Developing web applications for both core administrative projects as well as faculty research projects. Projects range in size and may entail system development and integration, web development, or system/database development. Development will typically occur within open source environments. Design implementation, code development and deployment of applications based mostly on PHP/Drupal, CSS, Javascript and jQuery and MySQL. Work with development and infrastructure teams to integrate current web applications. Develop core applications and add new functionality to existing websites to help meet the College's evolving needs. Continuously improve our underlying Drupal infrastructure by constantly looking for ways to streamline the development process and improve the user experience. The Hive prides itself in fostering a collaborative and transparent work environment. Regularly communicate the status of projects and issues as needed. Work closely with faculty, our software development team, infrastructure team and design team to develop mobile apps to our clients' specifications. Build native iOS and Android applications including design, development, maintenance and troubleshooting. Ensure the implementation of an intelligent architecture that enables scaling and extend our mobile assets. Participate in architecture stewardship activities.

Teaching and mentoring responsibilities include:
Develop and teach introductory and advanced web authoring courses as part of our ITIQ course offerings. Provide coaching and knowledge transfer to team members. Assist student developers with coding and performance tuning. Participate in code reviews.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
High level of understanding of Linux OS, Apache Web Server, MySQL, Perl & or Python, PHP, shell programming, GNU Tools, Linux Systems Permissions, PAM, SAMBA and MS Windows Server. Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines. Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills and a strong desire to work as part of a team.

Preferred Education / Experience
BS and 2 years in programming/application development/related or MA in Library Sciences.
