Job Description
The patient care assistant collaborates with patient care staff on the Gastroenterology/HPN Unit on Domitilla 6D in tasks of direct and indirect patient care which support and complement nursing practice under the supervision of a RN. The patient care assistant carries out designated skills that are within those functions limited by law to unlicensed nursing personnel. May assist in performing housekeeping activities related to equipment/materials management. (001212 or 001048)
Basic Qualifications:
Must meet at least one of the following three qualifications to be considered: Successful completion of the Acute Care component of the Nursing Assistant Program taught at Rochester Community and Technical College (and various other colleges) within the last five years. A scanned copy of the certificate of completion or transcripts must be attached to your profile to be considered. Or, if enrolled in a Nursing Program and have completed one semester of clinical rotations through an acute care hospital setting within the last five years. Transcripts must be attached to be considered. Or, one year or more as a Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Assistant in an acute care hospital setting, within the last five years. Basic Cardiac Life Support - BCLS - certification required prior to first day of employment. A scanned copy of the certificate of completion or transcripts, including your full name, must be attached to your profile to be considered.
Other Qualifications:
College English, Medical Terminology and Psychology of Adjustment class completion preferred. Work flexible hours which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays and weekends. Internal applicants should submit their three most recent performance appraisals.

Exemption Status: Non-exempt
Hours/Pay Period: 48 hours per 2-week pay period.
Schedule Details: Sunday – Saturday; Day/Evenings, 8-hour shifts
Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend (Weekend 1)
Compensation Detail: Minimum rate is $15.17 based upon union contract.
