Security Operations Center (SOC) Security Specialists serve as the dedicated security presence for a high security space called the Springfield Client Security Operations Center (SOC), 24 hours a day, and 365 days a year. In addition SOC Security Specialists will provide the highest levels of customer service and support as needed for client management, including access control, safety and security patrols and other support as needed. The Security Operations Center Specialist is considered an advanced position requiring a specialized skill set and extensive training to support Client Corporate Security and Safety. Security Operations Center Security Specialists are dedicated security personnel and will, except in unusual circumstances as directed by management, be restricted to the Security Operations Center. The Springfield Security Operations Center Security Specialist will be posted at a desk within the secure space of the SOC, except when on approved break or lunch periods, or when on assigned hourly patrols or responding to an incident or emergency within the other secure areas of the SOC.

Essential Functions:
Live Monitoring of Video Feeds for Cameras Associated with the SOC Space - Approximately 80%

Responsible for live monitoring of all security camera video feeds associated with the Security Operations Center space in Springfield and its perimeter during assigned shifts. Video is to be actively monitored 24x7x365 allowing only for brief interruptions to perform other duties as described below. This requires a great deal of patience, attention to detail, analytical skills, and technical proficiency with the various video systems and tools. Security Operations Center Security Specialists will observe, document, and respond or dispatch appropriately to any unusual activity that might jeopardize the security, safety, and/or business operations of the Security Operations Center. The intent is for an alert Security Operations Center Security Specialist to observe and proactively respond to suspicious activity before a breach occurs that may or may not otherwise trigger an alarm.
Monitoring and Response to Security Alarms Associated with the SOC Space - Approximately 5%

Responsible for the continuous and timely monitoring and response or dispatch to all incoming alarms associated with the Springfield Security Operations Center. This requires critical thinking and analytical skills, problem solving skills, attention to detail, strict adherence to policy and procedures, and a thorough understanding of the alarm monitoring systems as well as a good understanding of general alarm monitoring best practices.
Patrol - Approximately 5%

Responsible for very brief hourly patrols of the Springfield Security Operations Center, during which all spaces must be visually inspected for unauthorized personnel, signs of attempted unauthorized access, signs of tampering or circumvention of security and access control devices, threats of any kind to the security or operations of the facility and business unit, or to the health and safety of space occupants. Anything out of the ordinary, to include but not limited to incidents, issues, hazards, suspicious circumstances, or violations must be thoroughly and accurately documented via the appropriate reporting system, and any appropriate notifications promptly made. This requires good observation skills, attention to detail, analytical skills, critical thinking skills, problem solving skills, and sound judgment.
Information Management and Data Entry - Approximately 5%

Responsible for documenting all alarms received, anything out of the ordinary observed while monitoring live video, and anything out of the ordinary observed during patrols, as well as complete and accurate documentation of any required responses to these situations or any emergency situations that might arise.
Emergency Response - As Needed - Less than 5%

Although emergencies in this space are rare, the Springfield Security Operations Center Security Specialist is responsible for responding to any and all emergencies within or associated with the Springfield Security Operations Center space. These may include but are not limited to medical emergencies, fire emergencies, and other disaster type situations.
Visual Identification and Access Control - As Needed - Less than 5%

Responsible for making visual confirmation of identities of entrants to the Springfield Security Operations Center by visually matching the entrants face to the photo and name on the badge they carry, denying access to individuals not using their own badge or without proper authority and access approvals to enter, unless escorted properly by a valid sponsor. This is an important but low frequency duty due to the very limited number of personnel allowed access to the Springfield Security Operations Center.
Customer Service - 100%

All Security Operations Center Security Specialists will effectively utilize all site process, resources and training to deliver the highest quality customer service and support to the client, their employees, contractors, and vendors in every situation and interaction while maintaining good security.

This is a rapidly growing and evolving field. Job duties and responsibilities may change as client needs change, technology advances, and industry best practices are refined. Qualifications: Security Officer Basic Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older as required by applicable law or contractual requirements.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED, or at least 10 years of verifiable employment history.
  • At least one verifiable employer.
  • No criminal convictions as specified under AlliedBarton guidelines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in the English language for the purpose of public interaction and report writing.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Negative result on pre-employment drug screen.
  • Successful completion of AlliedBarton's Security Officer Basic Course exam.
  • Ability to maintain satisfactory attendance and punctuality standard.
  • Neat and professional appearance.
  • Friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to provide quality customer service.
  • Ability to handle typical and crisis situations efficiently and effectively at client site.
Education required: HS Diploma _X_ Associates Degree ___ BS/BA ___ No experience required, but at least 1 year related experience is strongly preferred. Are specific certifications required? Oregon DPSST Unarmed Security Provider License, Oregon DPSST Alarm Monitor Certification, American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Certification. Other requirements or competencies :
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills in all presentation formats (i.e. - in person, via telephone, via radio, via e-mail, and hand written format)

Intermediate computer skills, which must include experience with Microsoft Windows XP and Microsoft Office 2007

Minimum typing speed of 30 wpm with a high level of accuracy

Strong work ethic with an excellent attendance history

Able to stay alert and on task working effectively and productively with little to no direct supervision in a small, isolated, secure environment

Strong time management and prioritization skills

Able to remain calm, confident, and focused under pressure to accomplish the mission in a professional and proficient manner.

Able to sit at a post for extended periods of time, as well as patrolling on foot or standing at an assigned and fixed post for an extended period of time.

Strong problem solving abilities demonstrated in rapidly changing environment.

Comfortable working in an environment in which all areas of the space are completely covered by live and recorded video surveillance at all times.

Capable of passing an enhanced background check, to include thorough criminal history, employment, residence, and credit checks.

Capable of passing a pre-employment drug screening

Able to obtain and maintain current and valid Oregon DPSST Unarmed Security Provider Certification and Private Security Alarm Monitor Certification
