Duties:
Carries out medical protocols, including managing detoxification of the chemically dependent; assists in developing policy and procedures; performs complete physical assessments; works with patients with a variety of medical; emotional and psychological problems; initiates routine orders; assists in educating clients on various health issues; assists in crisis intervention; assists in determining appropriateness of clients seeking admission. Communicates with other staff on progress of clients. Assumes a leadership role as well as contributing to a treatment team consisting of doctors, counselors, mental health therepist, LPN's and treatment specialists.

Competencies:
Knowledge of policy and procedures; Federal condidentiality laws; Nursing Practice Act; Medication protocol; interpretations of diagnostic tests; techniques and practices. Appropriate knowledge of medical conditions and practice in the chemical dependent client. Skilled in the use of medical equipment and procedures. Ability to react in emergency situations; crisis intervention; good medical judgement; works effectively with others. Desire to work with the chemically dependent population. Must have computer knowledge.

Education/Experience:
Must be a graduate of an approved School of Professional Nursing and be currently licensed as an RN in the State of Montana. Prefer acute care and psychiatric nursing experience.
