David Evans and Associates is currently seeking a System Administrator to join our project team for our client based in Vancouver, WA. A System Administrator is a person who provides operating system support in order to provide sustainable, stable and secure enterprise level servers including backup, recovery, performance tuning, upgrades/patches, maintenance, troubleshooting, permissions and file sharing.
Position Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Develop and implement Operating Systems (OS) level cyber security configurations, and document development steps and procedures
Compile kernels, build systems, administer systems, and test configurations
Support cluster/disaster recovery and ensure continuous availability of business-critical applications
Restore data files and perform bare metal system volume recoveries
Install and configure computer and username naming services interacting with the Windows Active Directory environment
Automate status monitoring/alarming
Determine virtual host/client requirements; create the bundle, install and monitor availability
Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of related experience, or 9+ years of related experience in lieu of degree.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field such as Information Systems preferred
Linux, Unix, Solaris: Experience engineering security build of OS, audit OS, Compliance standards and how it pertains to OS, system administration, system protection processes, High Availability systems, etc.
Experience effectively performing security control testing and/or vulnerability assessments
Ability to clearly communicate results, findings, and recommendations
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products, such as Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook, including Microsoft Office 2010.
General Skill Requirements :Knowledge of the following:
Expert knowledge of Unix, Linux, Solaris, etc.
Installation and support of Solaris operating systems
Linux operating system
Configuration of UNIX files systems on a large enterprise
Maintenance and support of SUN server systems
High Availability Systems
Administration tools such as LSAT (Linux Security Audit Tool) for security and hardening in an integrated network
Auditing Operating Systems
System protection processes
NERC CIP Compliance
Control Center Knowledge (Preferred)
Demonstrated skill in technical writing and reporting, including managing related documentation and files
Ability to carry out assigned tasks with a professional demeanor, as exhibited in excellent written and oral communication skills, listening skills, patience, logical and sound reasoning, and problem-solving approach
Understanding of compliance standards and how it pertains to Operating Systems
Ability to engineer security build of operating systems
Ability to meet timelines, milestones, project expectations, and provide timely status updates on assigned tasks
Ability to support a sustainable infrastructure by ensuring adequate documentation of activities, including cross-training of staff as necessary
Knowledge of computer and network security incident/event auditing and analysis
Knowledge of networking and internetworking protocols and their associated vulnerabilities
Knowledge of vulnerability research methodologies and sources.
Ability to perform successfully in a team environment
Demonstrated organization and information-gathering skills
Proven experience developing and executing testing plans, and reporting results
Ability to apply technical and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively via telephone, e-mail correspondence, and in-person meetings
This position may be required to work non-core hours as circumstances warrant
This position will be expected to complete and maintain North American Reliability Corporation (NERC) Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) certifications for secure locations and to possibly act as an escort as required.
This position is not eligible for off-site work
