Provides coverage for the St. Vincent Health System Call Center. Answers multiple phone lines, transfers calls, takes accurate messages, gives out test information and results. Uses the Lab Information System Customer Service software for complete work request queues in a timely manner.

Previous laboratory experience preferred.

One-year experience in a client services/clerical position required.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift and carry twenty-five (25) pounds. Must be able to stand or sit up to four (4) hours at a time. Position requires the ability to stoop to perform technical operations on instrumentation.

Demonstrated problem solving skills required.

Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills required.

Computer skills required.

Keyboard skills to include typing 35 wpm preferred.


(Other duties may be assigned)

Answers phone requests for test results to physicians and other healthcare personnel.

Uses excellent customer service and problem solving skills. Uses department scripted responses to give a uniform level of service to clients.

Keeps appropriate management personnel informed of significant service issues by verbal communication and/or documentation in client relations data files.

Produces lab report chart reports. Is responsible for distributing charts through phone, remote printing, fax, etc.

Maintains files.

Performs assigned computer operations and report responsibilities.

Demonstrates the following customer service/interpersonal skills:

Takes personal responsibility for work, actions and attitudes.

Respects patients, peers, clients, students, physicians, service representatives, and other hospital staff.

Demonstrates positive and effective communication skills.

Cooperates with peers and other hospital staff to build and maintain an effective healthcare team.

Accurately orders laboratory tests in the laboratory information system from test requests.

Faxes clients for additional documentation.
