The University of Denver’s Morgridge College of Education ( MCE ) invites applications for a tenure track position in the Higher Education program at the rank of Advanced Assistant/Associate Professor. We seek a candidate with knowledge and understanding of higher education and its implications across the P-20 educational spectrum. We also desire a candidate with specific background or interest in working with culturally diverse and/or under-served populations. This position requires an individual with leadership skills and/or transferable experiences. We desire an innovative and critical thinker, capable of working within a dynamic environment. The responsibilities of this position include: maintaining an active research agenda, teaching graduate level courses, advising master’s and doctoral students, directing and serving on dissertations, establishing partnerships with community agencies and other external constituents. If the successful candidate is hired at the Associate Professor level, the position responsibilities will include serving as program coordinator.
Preferred Qualifications
A strong background in one or more of the following areas is desired: college access and preparation; retention and persistence; high school to college transitions; higher education policy, finance, and/or governance, and community colleges. The successful candidate also should have a strong interest in working with programs that connect higher education across P-20 settings and with community stakeholders.
Preference will be given to candidates who have prior professional and administrative experiences within a higher education related setting.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates should have an earned doctorate in Higher Education or a closely related field with a strong commitment to inclusive excellence and demonstrated experience working with diverse populations.
The candidate needs to have a solid record of research and scholarship, teaching, and community engagement and should be eligible to meet expectations for appointment at the level of Assistant/Associate Professor.
Applicants should demonstrate an ability and desire to contribute to a higher education program, inform and influence current higher education policies and practices, and think creatively in designing, implementing and/or evaluating innovative postsecondary educational programs. Demonstrated experience or potential in teaching, research, and securing external funding are desired.
