profitable has cash reserves is NOT VC funded is backed by a large well established financially secure company and is cash flow positive The company currently has successful products but is in the initial design phase of building the next generation of products in a niche that is untouched in the industry The Linux System Administrator will be responsible for the redesign build out and implementation of the company’s high volume Internet based Linux serving platform infrastructure based on cutting edge technologies The company is in the process of redesigning and building out a new infrastructure for increased performance reliability and scalability based on increased traffic and release of new products The Linux System Administrator will be supporting 100+ CentOS Linux Servers in a High Availability High Internet Volume 24x7x365 environment The candidate will need to demonstrate and prove (via resume and then interview) their experience with large Internet Linux System infrastructures The Linux System Administrator supports all Production Development and QA servers The Sr Linux System Administrator has direct responsibility for all hardware specification for capacity scalability and growth to include existing and new productsystems deployments System installation and configuration in preparation for system launch AMDIntel processors CentOS Linux OS ongoing maintenance of system hardware and Linux OS configuration and security and especially Linux server performance tuning More specifically the Linux System Administrator will monitor system activity and tune system parameters and configurations to optimize performance monitor disk space and control usage and implement migration path to upgrade software and servers create and manage user accounts and file directories support rapid development and deployment projects build and deploy automated tools and systems use methodical troubleshooting skills to resolve complex issues create from scratch new scripts to automate various processes and have full responsibility for web systems monitoring and tuningconfiguring for high availability and performance The company will soon be deploying systems on Amazons EC2 and AWS and the Linux SA will review current cloud offerings based on failover availability bandwidth and price The company is running 100+ CentOS Linux servers on Sun and Intel hardware running Apache web servers and TomcatJBoss Application Servers and MySQL and MongoDB database servers The servers are supporting LAMP (Python) environments The web server environment is handling millions hitsmonth in a very high volume HA 24x7x365 internet environment The company utilizes Python Perl and Shell scripts for automation Nagios and Cacti for monitoring and performance tuning Puppet and Chef for server build out automation and CM and VMWare for Virtualization The company offers matching 401K (vested on first day) full benefits (PPO HMO) including dental and vision monitoring and performance tuning Shell scripting experience Must have solid experience with Apache web servers Experience building configuring deploying troubleshooting and tuning web server farms with Linux Excellent methodology to troubleshoot various kinds of problems (network hardware and operating system related problems) Plus (NOT mandatory) PythonPHPPerl scripting experience for automation andor performance tuning Experience supporting LAMP stack Puppet andor Chef Experience managing a cloud computing environment (GAE AWSEC2 Rackspace terremark etc) Virtualization (Xen Vmware) Exposure to MySQL NoSQL andor MongoDB BS andor MS in Computer Science or a related degree Inclusion of the following detail in your resume recommended to increase chance for interview Detailed
