The Human Resources Generalist will collaborate with an assigned business unit and the human resources team to create solutions to address business needs that are consistent with the business unit’s mission and vision. This position works closely with the Human Resources Business Partner to develop, implement and evaluate HR strategies and initiatives that contribute to the long term growth and development of the Business Unit and the broader organization.

Essential Functions :
Executes human resources initiatives across a broad range of areas, including: performance management, talent management, benefits, compensation and talent development

Ensures compliance with all federal/state/local employment laws and regulations (e.g. unemployment, OSHA, safety, worker’s compensation, affirmative action, FMLA, etc.)

Communicates with and educates assigned clients on Flagstar human resources policies and procedures

Assists with improving and streamlining operations through the continuous assessment of policies, procedures and program effectiveness/value leveraging technology whenever possible

Partners with the HR team to champion change management strategies by effectively guiding employees and business partners through organizational change

Identifies key issues and using a broad range of alternatives, recommends optimal solutions that are consistent with legal and Flagstar guidelines

Support effective recruiting/retention strategies that focus on diversity in collaboration with hiring managers

Assists in creating an effective employee relations environment that enables the business unit to achieve its business objectives and builds employee commitment

Identifies and coordinates training and development programs for employees

Performs additional duties as requested to achieve business objectives

Minimum Requirements :
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or equivalent experience

5 or more years of related Human Resources experience

Ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization

Excellent verbal and written skills and the ability to communicate with credibility and confidence

Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills

Ability to work in a team/matrix structure, supporting multiple clients

Flexibility and the ability to embrace new/ evolving business models

Demonstrated ability to effectively use office automation, communication, software and tools currently used in the Flagstar office environment

Financial industry experience a plus

Must be able to perform all essential functions of the position with or without accommodations
