The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is a bi-state public agency operating some of the busiest and most important transportation links in the New York / New Jersey region including The Port Authority Trans Hudson Corporation (PATH), the primary transit link between Manhattan and New Jersey communities and suburban commuter railroads.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is seeking a Staff Services Engineer to join the Architectural Design Division within the Engineering Department.
Reporting to a Principal Environmental Engineer, the Staff Services Engineers responsibilities include: developing and implementing plans and preparing reports for site investigations and remedial actions for submission to State Regulatory Agencies; obtaining environmental permits/approvals for facility operations, remediations, and construction projects; preparing design and construction cost estimates and developing technical specifications, notes and drawings in support of construction contracts.
Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:
Selected candidate must have direct experience with investigating and remediating soil and groundwater contamination in New York and New Jersey.
The individual should have an in-depth understanding of the related State regulations and regulatory processes, including the New Jersey Site Remediation Reform Act and related regulations, and be familiar with permitting processes and requirements.
A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering fron an accredited college or university is required.
A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the aforementioned area is required.
Must possess a valid drivers license
Ideal candidates will present the following profile:
Experience performing such work at aviation facilities and marine terminals is preferred.
A Professional Engineers license or Engineer in Training (EIT) with the requisite qualifications and experience to obtain a Professional Engineers license preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to lead, manage, and prioritize multiple assignments.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work independently and prioritize as required
Experience with CAD, GIS, databases and environmental statistics is desirable
