Develops, directs, plans and evaluates internal audit programs for the organization's accounting and statistical records and the activities of various departments to ensure compliance with the organization's policies, procedures and standards. Determines proper accountability of assets. Audits accounting records of contract agreements in which the organization is involved. Prepares reports for management on the results of audits, providing recommendations on improvements. Interfaces with and assists outside auditors to expedite their work. Uses existing procedures to solve routine or standard problems; receives instruction, guidance and direction from others. Assist in the planning process on segments of audit assignments.
Evaluate business processes to determine adequacy of controls, compliance with policies and procedures, and best practice solutions.
Perform specific audit procedures, tests and analyses, and prepare audit work papers documenting the work performed.
Prepare written or oral communications detailing specific audit findings and recommendations.
Perform reviews and tests of controls for the Company’s requirements regarding Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
Provide suggestions for the annual audit plan to assure that Internal Audit’s goals are achieved and aligned with the Organization.
Perform other special projects as assigned.
Internal Audit Supervisor or Internal Audit Manager
Routinely interacts with others inside the function. May have contact with customers.
Works under close supervision with no direct reports.
Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
Certification of CPA, CIA preferred.
Knowledge of auditing standards, GAAP, and Company policies and procedures.
Extensive knowledge of regulatory provisions and industry practices preferred.
No minimum experience requirements.
Solid communication skills, including the preparation of written and oral reports.
Strong interpersonal skills with supervisor and staff populations.
Superior organization, prioritization, and self-motivation skills.
Proficient computer skills.
Ability to interact effectively as either a leader or as a member of a team and work collaboratively with other departments.
Ability to listen to customers (e.g. staff, etc.) and to understand and respond positively to their requests.
Ability to adapt to changing assignments and multiple priorities.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and successfully meet deadlines.
Ability to travel up to 40% overnight and to work periods with extended working hours.
