Job Summary:
Working under the supervision of Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) staff, prepares, and assists with Therapeutic Recreation activities and patient care. Provides Therapeutic Recreation Clinical Services that improve functioning, independence and reduce, or eliminate the effects of illness or disability.

Essential Duties:
Assists the Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists (CTRS) in the provision of care.

Works with CTRS and Nursing Services staff to provide input into the Plan of Care to meet social, emotional, physical, and mental needs of the patient.

Documents patient/client assessments, responses to interventions, and discharge needs demonstrating high level of documentation competency.

Manages self to meet established levels of expectations for job performance, productivity and attendance. Responsible for safety of patients, staff, and facility areas.

Responsible for the integrity of the budget through means such as monitoring expenses, and personal accountability for usage of paid time.

Accept direction and work with the CTRS, Nursing Services staff, or other health system leadership by performing value added activities that result in quality, customer satisfaction, and/or financial performance of departmental, and/or hospital and health system programs.

Performs value-added activities that result in positive financial performance and customer satisfaction.

Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

Education:
High school graduate or equivalent.

Enrollment in Therapeutic Recreation program through qualified University program, OR 1 year experience in setting providing recreation / leisure services.

Licensure:
REQUIRED:
BLS within 3 months of employment.

Aggression Management Training within 3 months of employment.

Nebraska Drivers License in good standing.

PREFERRED:
Any other licensure/certification necessary for specialized treatment services/modalities (Personal Training, Animal Assisted, YOGA, etc.)

Experience:
No experience required.
