Duties and Responsibilities
Conducts metabolomic profiling and cancer phenotyping projects;
Develops protocols and maintain reliable and productive GC-MS and LC-MS-based metabolomics platforms in the metabolomic lab;
Works with the Principal Investigator (PI) to coordinate and organize the research projects;
Manages experimental materials, biological specimens, metabolomics data generated from projects conducted in the lab;
Works closely with University of Hawaii (UH) Cancer Center and UH department investigators, support staff and administrative personnel to address research needs and to be compliant with the institutional requirements;
Works with the PI on scientific publications, grant applications, and project reports;
Acts as a senior member of the PI research team in developing research projects;
Works with the PI to organize group meetings, scientific discussions and journal club;
Participates and presents research data in domestic and international scientific conferences;
Performs other scholarly duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree plus 30 credit hours of graduate study in a field relevant to the position involved from a
college or university of recognized standing;
Three years of related work experience as a Junior Specialist or equivalent with a focus on metabolomics;
Knowledge of metabolomics and analytical chemistry;
Knowledge of basic biochemical and biostatistical analysis of data typically associated with metabolomic studies;
Demonstrated ability to conduct mass spectrometry-based metabolic analysis of biological samples generated from human studies and animal models;
Demonstrated ablity to perform routine as well as complex laboratory experiments required by metabolomics study;
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
Excellent writing skills.
Desirable Qualifications
Doctorate in biochemistry, pharmaceutical science, or in related life sciences field;
Postdoctoral training in bioanalytical or bioinformatic research.
