Organizational Mission
The mission of SMSG Readiness is to lead SMSG to achieve performance excellence with customers and partners through coordinated world class learning solutions. SMSG Readiness is responsible for equipping frontline field personnel with the skills, knowledge and information that they need to execute against their commitments and goals. The scope of the team extends across all field roles (30,000+ employees) across a wide variety of technical and non-technical jobs. Global coverage of sales, technical sales, developer evangelists, consulting, and customer support teams. All components of functional skills ranging from technical & business skills, systems & tools and product related training. The team comprises more than 140 employees, a large contingent and vendor staff, and is responsible for managing a budget of around $100M.

Working with internal resources and/or with Training vendors, the Learning & Development Consultant (LDC) plans, designs, develops and delivers custom training programs and curricula to increase the knowledge and capability and effectiveness of the Microsoft Advertising Sales & Service Managers, Account Executive, and Account Manager population. In partnership with the Advertising & Online segment and Online Services Division Business Group, the LDC designs and delivers platform and process; solutions/products; selling skills and/or new hire trainings. Working in partnership with the business as a trusted advisor, the LDC:
•Develops and maintain training solutions, including e-learning, virtual and instructor led modules, with global scale aligning to business metrics and field objectives.
•Owns the end-to-end training program, including project managing, designing, developing, and in some case delivering the program, ensuring impact and relevance to the target audience and driving key business metrics.
•Manages vendor relationships for specific program(s), ensuring the highest quality standards are met; adhering to business processes and goals.
•Consistently measures the ROI and effectiveness of training delivery using defined metrics and evaluating feedback and apply learning to program and implementing corrective measures as needed.
•Drives stakeholder relationships across multiple functions and markets, using impact and influence to gain the support of key stakeholders and secure the best learning solution.
•Provides consultancy to stakeholders and partners on best learning and development methods
•Act as a mentor to peers, and proactively shares learning and experience with colleagues to increase the overall effectiveness of the Readiness Team Unit.
Success in this role relies on the ability to build strong, collaborative relationships internally and in vendor organizations; having a deep understanding of the Advertising business and how Readiness aligns to business metrics and goals at the global and local levels. Exemplary communication skills coupled with tenacity and the determination to achieve the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction are also key to successful execution.

1. Business: Project Management & Process Implementation
•Developing project strategy and tie goals back to business goals/needs/gaps

2. Customer / Partner
•Proactively solicit input from the business to tailor programs to meet business goals at the global level, while meeting local needs when necessary
•Gather feedback from managers and individual contributors on the effectiveness of trainings, conducting needs analysis, and making recommendations based on the information gained to deliver highly impactful and relevant training programs.
•Takes a collaborative approach and builds a common goal with partners when working across functions; ensure all training programs support the business metrics.
3. Business: Internal Consulting - Influences, negotiates, strategic thinking, systems thinking by:
•Driving execution of learning solution and setting expectations on timing, delivery, necessary coaching, etc. to ensure success. May require challenging management/ stakeholders when necessary on subjects such as dev time, resource investments, etc.
•Identifying risks and presenting thoughtful mitigation strategies.
•Using impact and influence to gain the support of key stakeholders and secure the best learning solution.
•Manage and build key stakeholder relationships
4. Business: Solutions Design
•Collaborating with SMEs, Instructional Designers and/or vendors to design training in various modalities
•Evaluating training programs to accurately measure learning retention
•Demonstrating a strategic approach to addressing learning needs and gaps, while applying knowledge of Adult Learning Theory
•Building detailed and easy to follow facilitator guides, storyboards and/or presentations.
•Enhancing or customizing training modality to ensure maximize absorption and retention; including localization if necessary.
5. Business: Learning Delivery - Train our core audience in platform; process, tool or skill by:
•Demonstrating the ability to assume the lead trainer role on a platform, process, product or soft skill across multiple markets.
•Owning the delivery and being accountable for absorption and presentation results/scores.
•Build rapport & credibility w/ stakeholders, SMEs, participants
•Demonstrating flexibility and agility by making impromptu adjustments/changes to reinforce learning.
6. Business: Vendor Selection & Management
•Project manage all aspects of assigned vendor supplied training programs so that the vendor is appropriately briefed and the learning intervention they design and deliver fully meets the needs of the target audience
•Develop relationships at multiple levels in the vendor organization and manage the vendor relationship to gain the best service and financial arrangements for SMSGR
•Adhere to all Microsoft Standards of Business Conduct and process and procedures for selecting and managing vendors
7. Business Acumen
•Understanding of the industry and key trends; offering strategic recommendations to training programs and curricula
•Demonstrating the ability to gain knowledge and ramp in platform, products, solutions to influence stakeholders and partners
•Identifying and driving connections between assigned projects and the end customer’s KPI’s, business model and priorities
•Navigating the organization, understanding roles and responsibilities, and being able to identify key decision makers
Minimum qualifications to be considered include:
•5+ years’ experience in either learning design and delivery or Media Sales & Services
•Bachelor’s Degree / MBA is desirable
•Previous experience in the Media / Advertising industry a plus
•Evidence/experience driving learning interventions that have delivered measurable business impact
•Executive level interaction and partnership; Experience working across geographies / cultures an advantage
