The Assistant Director of Facilities is responsible to develop and
implement programs, provide leadership and support to all facility
Managers, will manage vendor relationships, oversee all budgetary
aspects of facility departments to include staffing, contracting, the
operational and capital expenditures; all in an effort to effectively
and efficiently operate all UHS Properties. Will establish standards
and guidelines for hospital operations, major equipment and systems
use and replacement, determine long range replacement plans and
assist in implementing these programs. The Assistant Director will be
responsible for evaluating the operation of each hospital
individually and developing and implementing plans for improvement.
This position includes responsibility for the human resources
function of the acute (medical/surgical) hospital facility directors
(DPO’s), including hiring, mentoring and developing,
performance reviews, discipline and termination.
Essential Job Duties:
Provide support to the Director of Plant Operations.
Commission EOC, Life Safety and Emergency Preparedness pre-survey
inspection, preparation, and document recommendations
and implement standards programs, training tools, and vendor
Report Consolidation and Follow-up
Benchmark, analyze and manage hospital operations, staffing,
contracts and expenses.
Benchmark, manage and implement energy
management and utility consumption
Facility plant equipment
obsolescent planning, budgeting and replacement. Major equipment
repair project management oversight
Safety and Risk Management
interface, Insurance carrier interface; Environmental Hazard
Management/planning and remediation
Perform other duties as
Associate's degree or two years of college with a minimum of 8
years experience required; Bachelor's degree with 10+ years
Must have specific knowledge of hospital facilities and
engineering operations, CMS and Joint Commission Environment of Care,
Life Safety and Emergency Preparedness requirements, Fire Codes, and
hospital safety considerations, and environmental hazard remediation.
