To provide quality patient care services as directed by the supervisor in a courteous manner, thoroughly explaining each procedure to the patient before beginning and helping to provide a pleasant, comfortable, positive atmosphere for the patients.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Ability to work well with patients and staff.
Must understand the role and responsibility of a nursing assistant, the importance of verbal and non-verbal communication; the purpose and use of the nursing care plan and the importance of patient rights.
Ability to pass High Efficiency Respiratory Fit and Use program, as required by OSHA, Vol. 58, No. 195.
Actively participates in hospital programs.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Licensed to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the State of Nevada.
Shall have 24 hours of continuing training in the previous two (2) years.
Gives quality care and service which meets the standards of practice at Boulder City Hospital and adheres to hospital nursing service philosophy, policies and procedures.
Maintains confidential information regarding patients.
Reports on and off duty to the nurse in charge when leaving or returning to the area.
Participates in required meetings and inservices.
Admits, transfers, discharges patients and answers call lights.
Gives oral hygiene, baths and related care, makes beds, provides good skin care, mouth care, comfort and safety measures.
Prepares patients for meals and assists; as necessary, services, picks up trays, measures and records fluid intake, serves nourishments, provides pitcher and fresh water as needed.
Measures and records output, collects specimens, gives perineal care, gives and removes bedpan and urinal, observes incontinent patients frequently and cleans as necessary. Assists in bladder and bowel training; assists patients to bathroom or with commode.
Observes patients with IVs.
Takes and records vital signs (pulse, temperature, respirations and blood pressure). Reports all observations concerning patients to Charge Nurse, contributes to Nursing Care Plans.
Assists patient to wheelchair, stretcher and patient lifters. Assists patient in moving, turning, and in-and-out of bed.
Gives routine care of isolation patients under direct supervision of RN or LPN.
Seeks out ways to be of assistance to licensed staff in patient care activities or in maintaining order of the unit.
Demonstrates flexibility when orming duties as, for example, by assisting other departments with patient care duties.
