Role:
The Social Media Specialist will be responsible for organizing and implementing social media strategies, monitoring and reporting on communications opportunities and trends, and managing social media campaigns supporting TD Ameritrade's public relations and community affairs initiatives.
In this role, you will work with members of the Communications and Public Affairs (CAPA) team to use social media to help elevate the company's brand, manage corporate reputation and enhance traditional media relations strategies. Daily responsibilities will include responding to existing social threads and conversations, and developing and executing proactive social media campaigns to support traditional media relations (PR) efforts, among other duties. This position requires strong communications skills and a solid understanding of PR and social media best practices. It reports to the Director of External Communications and Public Affairs.
Responsibilities:
Monitor social and traditional media and identify opportunities for engagement, trends or other issues that are of significance to the company
Provide timely, detailed reports on social and traditional media trends
Respond to social media conversations as appropriate
Maintain editorial responsibility for a social content library, updating and/or writing new content as appropriate
Help business partners in client services, online engagement and other business units respond to social media from a corporate perspective
Develop and execute social media campaigns to support traditional media relations (PR) activities
Requirements:
4 year college degree
Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing or related
1-3 years experience
Strong knowledge of the professional usage of social networks including channels such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, Wikis, blogs, etc. (1-3 years using that knowledge in a professional setting is preferred)
Experience writing for social media in a professional setting, with strong communications and grammatical skills
Ability to think critically and creatively, as well as see how projects/initiatives impact the big picture
Experience working in a client services position or within a regulated industry a plus
