Job Description
The Director of Operations exercises operational control for all flight operations to meet FAA requirements. They plan and assure that all flight operations are conducted in compliance with all applicable federal aviation regulations (FARs) with safety as the first priority. The Director of Operations is the Mayo Clinic point of contact and to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for all aviation operations occurring under the Mayo Clinic the air carrier certificate.
The Director of Operations provides direction to the Chief Pilot and Dispatch Supervisor. The Director of Operations collaborates with the Director of Maintenance, Safety Manager, Director of Clinical Operations and Emergency Communications Center Manager to coordinate safe, efficient, patient-centered air medical transportation day after day. The Director of Operations collaborates with Mayo Clinic representatives across the enterprise to provide expertise in managing aviation relationships and day to day operations with contracted aviation partners.(012707-47616)

Basic Qualifications:
Candidate must meet requirements of Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Title 14, Section 119.71(b) titled ?Management personnel: Qualifications for operations conducted under part 135 of this chapter?. To include: -At least 3 years supervisory or management experience within the last 6 years in a position that exercised operational control over any operations conducted under Part 121 or Part 135, or -For a person becoming a Director of Operations for the first time ever have at least 3 years? experience, within the last 6 years, as pilot in command of an aircraft operated under part 121 or 135 rules -Commercial pilot certificate (Rotorcraft) -Instrument rating -Experience with Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS) flight -Experience with instrument flight rule (IFR) operations in helicopters -3 years? of previous supervisory experience -Bachelor?s Degree in Aviation Management, Business Management or related field

Other Qualifications:
Master?s Degree in Aviation Management, Business Management or related field preferred. Previous experience as a Director of Operations preferred. Previous experience in a helicopter EMS operation preferred. Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate preferred.
