This individual will guide the development and implementation of the new, system wide Electronic Health Record from the nursing side, with a special emphasis on the tie between physician order entry and the resulting nursing documentation. It is critical that the support software for documenting orders and clinical care be both appropriate and compatible on a system-wide basis. A critical need is that this individual posses a high degree of clinical experience within the system, and that clinical competence is recognized by the physician staff. Additionally, a strong background in the Cerner systems software structure and development is an important criterion. This individual will take a primary role in the development of both staff and physician training and ongoing system education support.
Secondary: This individual will also assist the Vice President, Nursing, with the implementation and on-going maintenance of the National Data Base of Nursing Quality Indicators for the Medical Center and other ongoing nursing data base indicators.
4 year/Bachelor degree required
3-5 years experience required
More than 5 years experience preferred
Experience with electronic documentation systems highly preferred
Experience in curriculum development and hands on training highly preferred
Experience in data abstraction and reporting highly preferred
Analytical, Computer Systems, Customer Relations, Ability to Multi Task and Prioritize, Medical Terminology, Microsoft Office, Organizational, Verbal Communication skills required
High comfort level with teaching/instructing required
Curriculum content/design knowledge required
Data abstraction and reporting knowledge required
License, Registration and/or Certification:
Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Kansas required
Healthcare Provider CPR (American Heart Association ONLY) certification required
