We are currently seeking a talented Director Safety and Environmental Affairs for our San Antonio, TX facility. As the Director Safety and Environmental Affairs you will direct all enterprise-wide safety and environmental affairs activities in order to promote a safe and productive workplace. Manages development and implementation of strategic plans that ensure safety and environmental compliance, control environmental stressors, and minimize occupational injuries and illnesses.

Develops, implements and maintains comprehensive corporate emergency response programs that include facility evacuation procedures, CRE business continuation plans, hazardous materials/agents threat response as well as an overall emergency response program. Job Duties: Directs the activities of the Safety/Environmental Affairs unit. Ensures that corporate safety, ergonomics, and environmental compliance activities and resource application adequately meet the objectives of the enterprise. Appraises and is responsible for corporate workplace safety including analysis of new regulations and trends.

Ensures enterprise-wide compliance and completion of safety and environmental audits of Corporate Facilities. Develops and implements programs and policies that proactively address safety, ergonomic and environmental issues. Plans, develops, and implements corporate business continuation and emergency response programs and procedures, including evacuation of USAA Facilities. Manages the USAA Emergency Response Team.

Participates in the Corporate Safety Committee and meets regularly with Enterprise Risk Management and Wellness Management to provide information on safety, environmental, and ergonomics issues and discuss loss mitigation. Reviews worker's compensation claims and incident reports to identify and implement ways to reduce the incidence and severity of occupational injuries and illness. Minimum Requirements: Bachelors Degree in a science related field or equivalent experience 5 years work related experience in Safety/Environmental/Emergency response Experience demonstrating excellent organizational, communication and personnel management skills Preferred: Preferred Certifications - Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Safety Professional, Professional Engineer, and Registered Environmental Professional Graduate degree in related field Experience with emergency response and industrial fire brigades The above description reflects the details considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job and should not be construed as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be performed in the job.
