Bruker Elemental HH XRF seeks an entry to mid- level spectroscopist to develop analytical tools and methods for Handheld & Portable XRF analyzers. Primary duties will include working as part of the application and product development team to define and develop new XRF products and applications for industry and research. A major focus will be in creating and testing new applications and methods. Additional duties will include sales and production support, creating and/or customizing calibrations for the end user, writing technical reports, and performing demonstrations or other pre-sales support at trade shows or conferences. The ideal candidate will have a background in XRF instrumentation, or a comparably spectroscopic instrument (e.g. OES , Arc Sparc, Atomic Spectroscopy).

Develop/modify XRF calibrations using latest algorithms with Fundamental Parameters, Multivariate Regression and “Chemometrics” Develop complete analytical applications, especially in Metals (PMI & Scrap), Mining, Restricted Materials or Environmental (Soil) Write Application Notes and Articles Evaluation of instrument and analytical performance Become industry expert in application area: understand customer needs, understand science behind the application, become VOC to Engineering Develop deep understanding of competitive products, in all aspects: analytical performance, hardware, software. Especially understanding comparative analytical performance. Analyze customer samples and prepare professional reports Perform high level demonstrations of equipment to potential customers Develop training and sales presentations Train customers & sales staff Present technical papers at conferences Attend trade shows and provide technical support Other duties as assigned
Minimum BS in Materials Science, Geoscience, Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, Metallurgy or related engineering field. Understanding of elemental spectroscopy Ability to work customer facing and interact with both internal and external sales Laboratory experience and safe material handling skills Ability to lift 40 pounds and carry equipment to measurement sites Understanding of statistical analysis and statistical process control Strong understanding of method validation and method development MS Office and Windows™ based OS Willingness to travel internationally up to 60% The ability to work independently and in small groups. Interest/ability to work in small-to-mid sized organization, requiring multiple (sometimes conflicting) roles and flexibility to adjust to needs of the organization and/or markets. Interest/ability to work in 24/7 worldwide market, which requires ability to communicate outside of normal business hours. Proven oral and written communication skills and ability to work in cross discipline environment Team player Hands on problem solver with can do attitude
Industrial XRF experience preferable with pXRF (from technical perspective) Deep experience in at least one core pXRF market: Metals (PMI & Scrap), Mining& Minerals, Restricted Materials, Environmental Analytical Method development using best practice Fundamental Parameter, Chemometrics, Multivariate regression knowledge Knowledge of metallurgy or modern alloys MS or PhD in geoscience, materials science, chemistry, metallurgy or an engineering discipline. A lower degree with job experience is acceptable Ability to work in remote field locations under primitive circumstances Willingness to travel internationally up to 60%
