Reporting
to the Accounting Manager, the Accounts Payable Lead is responsible for
the operations, measurement and improvements of the Accounts Payable
and process for the Vertex Pharmaceutical companies supported by the
European Finance Shared Service Centre. The scope of the role also
includes supporting the Travel Expense process and systems (Concur).
The role requires working closely with all employees located at the
Vertex Pharmaceuticals (Europe) Ltd UK site as well as business
partners in remote sites (currently Germany, Switzerland, France and
Australia). The role will have significant interaction with our
external vendors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Accounts Payable and Payments
  • Accounts Payable Invoice Entry, accurate matching to i-procurement orders, and coding according to Vertex Chart of accounts
  • Vendor Statement Reconciliation
  • Develop and maintain training material for business partners
  • Assistance with the Vendor set-up process
  • Prepare information for period close accruals and prepayments
  • Vendor / Staff query tracking and resolution
  • Preparation of Payment batches for review by the Accountant
  • Reporting of process metrics according to Service Level Agreements
  • Travel Expenses
  • Processing of expense claims through concur
  • Preparing invoice batches including validation and accounting process for submission for review by the Accountant
  • To maintaining accurate and timely credit card processes
  • Management of original receipt documentation tracking
  • Prepare receipts for VAT reclaim
  • General Accounting
  • General administrative duties for accounting management including filing, scanning documents etc
  • To perform account analysis on an ad hoc basis
  • Assistance with Audit File preparation
  • Involvement in ad-hoc Accounting and Finance process improvement projects
  • Ad-hoc assistance to the Accounting Manager as required
Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • AAT (or equivalent) qualified
  • European language – German
  • Education, A-levels or equivalent
  • Accounting department experience including European/shared service experience
  • Proven business partner communication skills in working cross-sites, cross-functions, with vendors and employees
  • A proven track record of accuracy and attention to detail
  • A proven track record of problem solving and query resolution
