This role provides development support for new database design, enhancements to existing database design.
Modify existing databases or create new databases/database objects for OLTP and OLAP environments as needed. Also, provide direction for developers and analysts in their database development efforts.
Author and optimize complex SQL statements.
Implement data modifications, views, stored procedures and other database objects into the production environment.
Work as part of a project team to coordinate database development and determine project scope and limitations.
Import, cleanse, and transform data from various data sources for supporting transactional database systems, as well as decision making purposes.
Perform data quality validation, query result validation, and reporting discrepancy resolution.
Provide support for the development and maintenance of SSIS packages and SQL jobs.
An understanding of:
Relational database design concepts, specifically Microsoft SQL Server.
Basic database security concepts.
MDX would be a plus, but not required.
OLAP and OLTP architecture.
SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS).
Able to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical associates regarding concepts of collecting, storing and delivering data.
Able to efficiently identify and implement creative, scalable, maintainable and high performing data solutions based upon business needs.
Able to work in an environment with multiple priorities and aggressive deadlines.
Willing to learn the various aspects of the business regardless of whether they are of technical nature or not.
Self-motivated and eager to learn. Possessing the drive for self-improvement, personally and professionally.
Able to work occasional late hours and weekends.
