The Civil Substation Project Engineer is responsible for executing and coordinating all civil engineering aspects of power equipment projects for Utility and Industrial Substations. In this position, you will:
Work on reactive compensation structures, foundations, yard structures, site grading plans, rigid bus analysis, transmission and distribution design and layout, masonry block design, building design, site and field support of contractors, elevation drawings, and piping and fuel system design for large emergency generation projects
Write equipment specifications and issuance of material purchase request forms to sourcing, vendor quotation evaluations, and interface with customers and project team members
Work with engineers and designers working on the project team on technical matters to meet project specifications
Focus on cost control and schedule objectives for the civil / mechanical aspects of power projects
Work on development of proposals including writing and / or reviewing technical specifications, estimating design man-hours and materials, supporting sourcing for vendor quotations, directing designers and draftsmen on drawing requirements, and the development of clarifications and exceptions as well as technical responses
Follow and help define processes, procedures, perform RCA’s (Root Cause Analysis), perform corrective actions, and validate process control
Support quality initiatives including aspects of ISO9002
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
Willingness and ability to travel occasionally, including international travel
PLEASE NOTE: Jackson, MS is the preferred location, however other U.S. locations may be considered.

Exposure to structural steel and foundations
Master's Degree in Civil Engineering
Minimum of 2 years of experience in Transmission and Distribution Substations power delivery systems engineering and projects experience as a Civil Engineer in substation type applications
Professional Engineering registration (within the U.S.)
Knowledge of and experience with National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA), Building Codes, Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers (IEEE) & International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Standards
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Field experience with safe work habits
Ability to work in a team environment
Creative with the ability to lead a team and be accountable for team results in order to deliver a high quality product on time and under budget
Ability to develop and implement standards and structured programs
Good presence in front of the customer with demonstrated commercial experience such as Project Management
Excellent personal computer skills, including programming and design automation, and familiarity with AutoCAD / Microstation strongly desired
