Seagate, a leader in Storage Technology, is seeking a Software Development Engineer to join our Longmont, Colorado Design Center within the Cloud Datacenter Organization. Our Longmont facility serves as the base of operations for storage product development in these markets. The Cloud Datacenter Organization is focused on delivering products and services which expand the markets for Seagate in the Datacenter.

This Software Development Engineer will have some of the following responsibilities:
  • Develop installation tools for deploying software across multiple systems

  • Develop tools to allow user configuration/status interaction with large scale storage systems

  • Benchmark/analyze various architectures to discover optimal solutions

  • Work with open source projects related to Cloud based data center infrastructure

  • Drive innovation at the system and disk drive level to differentiate Seagate product solutions

  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or Physics, or equivalent work experience

  • 3+ years of software development experience

  • Knowledge of computer architecture, preferably x86-based systems

  • Linux system development expertise - knowledge of one or more of the following

    • Applications development

    • Networking (TCP/IP, DHCP, PXE)

    • Internals (Kernel development, device drivers, storage stacks)

    • File systems

    • Linux administration

  • Proficient programming in one or more of the following:

    • C++, Java or object oriented language, Linux Shell, Python or Ruby

  • Masters Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or Physics

  • Experience with large scale Linux deployment and integration

  • Experience with OpenStack Swift, CEPH or other large data storage system

  • Experience using Puppet or Chef
