Don't have a teaching background?
That's ok. Neither did many of our best instructors when they began. Teaching experience is preferred, but not required. Amazing Kaplan instructors are dynamic, engaging and can make something as intimidating as the MCAT fun and manageable.
We'll work with you to develop your teaching skills through training. We have a formal training program that provides ongoing feedback to work on your areas of opportunity and improve your teaching style. Once you get into the classroom, you'll be ready to get our students excited about acing the MCAT and stepping closer to the white coat!
Who Teaches MCAT for Kaplan
Our instructors have various qualifications and experiences. We've provided some examples of their profiles below to help you understand who teaches our MCAT courses and tends to be successful in this role.
The Pre-Med Gap Year Student: This highly motivated group of candidates teach for Kaplan in the year after undergrad prior to medical school. They find that teaching for Kaplan is a great way to apply their knowledge of the sciences and develop the communication skills and leadership ability necessary for success in med school.
The Med Student: Med students frequently teach for Kaplan in the first few years of med school before rotations. They find that it's satisfying to help pre-med students and frequently also receive free or discounted USMLE prep through Kaplan's Gift of Knowledge Program.
"I'm Rethinking a Career in Medicine': Some of our top MCAT Faculty Members are highly trained in the pre-med sciences, but decided against practicing medicine. Teaching for Kaplan is a great way for this group to gain professional experience outside of healthcare or discover a new career path with Kaplan!

About Kaplan's Part-Time Employment Program:
Kaplan provides flexible hours that compliment the busy schedule of a student or working professional. Our 12-session course will typically meet on evenings and/or weekends, and instructors have the ability to select their own courses. Over the duration of a course, most instructors will earn between $1,450 - $1,750. High-performing instructors are eligible for pay increases. In addition, Kaplan's part-time employees have access to corporate discounts, healthcare and 401(k) savings plan.
Kaplan instructors normally teach and tutor, though both are not required. We require an MCAT score at or above the 90th percentile on all sections of the exam. For candidates who don't already possess qualifying scores, we are happy to provide an opportunity to take a qualifying exam.
