Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of the Geisinger Health System in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction.
Responsible for all aspects of training in support of HIE applications including instructor led training, onsite support for providers and clinical staff and development of technical documentation. This multifaceted role requires the candidate to interact professionally with healthcare professionals on a regular basis. Works under the general supervision and administrative direction of the appropriate Team Leader.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* 1. Provides instruction to individuals and groups (as many as 20 at a time).
*2. Provides day to day support of HIE training initiatives.
*3. Conducts training classes.
*4. Understand, analyze, and communicate training needs within the organization.
* 5. Develops a strong understanding of assigned applications.
* 6. Prepares training materials and performs training for both user and operations personnel.
*7. Communicates effectively with other team members, end users, and supervisor.
*8. Assists with implementation analysis.
*9. Keeps current on new technology development in hardware, software and direction of the industry.
*10. Recommends system enhancements to provide continuing efficiencies to the end user.
*11. Organizes information in accessible project files.
*12. Analyzes documents, files, reports, and other application-related workflows.
*13. Reports project progress and activity to appropriate team leader.
*14. Maintains tables, master files, etc. as assigned.
*15. Assists with the planning, testing, and documenting of application upgrades
*16. Provides input into project plans.
*17. Assists with the assurance that the end users uphold the Geisinger Health System security policies
*18. Contributes to a team atmosphere
*19. Provides implementation shadowing support including off hours, weekends and holidays.
*20. Assists in the preparation of user, systems and operations documentation
*21. Assists in the preparation of department policies, procedures and standards
*22. Attends departmental and team meetings.
23. Performs other duties as required or assigned by emergency or other operational reasons for which the employee is qualified to perform.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Demonstrates a strong general understanding of personal computers, Microsoft Word and Excel.
Demonstrates excellent written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrates abilities in analytical thinking for problem solving.
Demonstrates ability to effectively interact in a team environment and with high-level management.
Demonstrates self-motivated work ethic.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Associate's degree or technical diploma in Education, Communication, Computer Science, Information Science, or health care related specialty required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
In lieu of a degree, three years of information technology in an application/user support role may be considered.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
General understanding of the health care industry preferred.
