Assumes primary responsibility for the planning, implementation, technical functionality, troubleshooting, support and training for the laboratory information systems. Coordinates the quality control and process improvement program for the Laboratory.
- 3-5 years experience
- Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience
- certified in laboratory specific field
Keeps abreast of emerging laboratory information systems (LIS) technologies. Works closely with the Lab Manager, Chief Information Officer and Clinical Applications Team to oversee and coordinate strategic planning for LIS initiatives.
Oversees the implementation of the lab information system including instrumentation interfaces and outreach lab interfaces.
Works closely with the IS department to maintain essential technical connectivity, systems backup, and interfacing with the other hospital information systems.
Develops, implements and maintains policies and procedures that facilitate the effective use of the LIS.
Develops monitoring techniques and downtime processes to keep the LIS in synch with other systems in the organization.
Monitors the system's interfaces to insure they are functioning at all times.
Performs problem troubleshooting and is actively responsible for problem escalation and resolution, regardless of source.
Coordinates the quality assurance and process improvement programs within the lab.
