The Director of HR will play a key role in providing HR support and guidance for management and employees. The position reports directly to the Vice President of Human Resources/Affirmative Action Officer. The Director of HR will assist the Vice President of Human Resources/Affirmative Action Officer with developing and implementing the college’s recruitment, affirmative action, and diversity plans with specific attention to underrepresented and minority populations.
Bachelor degree required, Master’s degree preferred and/or JD a plus; 3 years related HR experience or equivalent experience preferred; Bilingual/Spanish ability a plus; Familiar with HR/ CMS a plus; Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills are required; Ability to partner and interact with all levels of management and employees to positively impact successful results; Demonstrated accountability and responsibility for independent judgment and successful outcomes; Experience designing and implementing cultural awareness initiatives; Must be self-motivated and demonstrate a positive professional style needed to generate relationships with faculty, staff and professionals throughout the college and the community; Must be able to set and achieve goals with ability to maintain high quality standards of product performance, and adherence to deadlines; Must be an action-oriented individual with a creative ability to overcome obstacles, share ideas, and work effectively as a team player; Experience in implementing the concept of inclusion, conducting diversity programming and building, and developing supportive campus structures; Sensitive to issues of Affirmative Action and multiculturalism; High sense of integrity and demonstrated ability to serve as collaborator, facilitator, and mediator; Strong computer skills including proficiency with MS Office products. Must demonstrate the ability to analyze data and make recommendations to the VP of HR/ AAO . Must demonstrate the ability to deal with multiple issues simultaneously with a sense of urgency and the ability to engage people in a positive manner to move initiatives forward. Must demonstrate the ability to work effectively in ambiguous situations, maintain a positive approach and be a strong advocate of diversity initiatives.
Responsible for the oversight of the college’s recruitment to include: position announcements, advertising, and affirmative action with regard to the recruitment and employment process. Develops, implements, and delivers professional development training programs to college employees on a wide variety of topics including confidentiality of employee/student information, sexual harassment, new union contract provisions, criminal/sex offender information, state ethics laws; Multiculturalism/Diversity, Culture of Respect, communication skills, and employee assistance programs, etc. Acts as backup to the Benefits Manager; Responsible for running, maintaining, HR/ CMS , LCM reports; Assist with the college’s Affirmative Action Narrative Plan and Diversity Plan; Assist with the organization and implementation of annual multicultural events; Other duties as assigned.
