Nurse Practitioner needed to work 12-24 hours weekly to provide patient care in Family Planning, Pediatric and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) programs. This position will work clinics located in Pittsylvania County and in Danville. Provides medical care at the current standard of care, within the scope of practice of a Family Practice Nurse Practitioner. Performs physical examinations, orders diagnostic tests, prescribes controlled substances, may directly perform or direct others to perform nursing assessments, may perform lab tests, take measurement and development and implement care plans including the administration of medication and case management. Performs examinations, orders diagnostic tests, prescribes medications and establishes diagnoses.
Knowledge of comprehensive Family Practice medical evaluation. Skill to perform physical examinations, lab sampling and use of microscope. Ability to provide good communication and organizational skills. Ability to recognize deviation from normal or health history, examination, lab data and correlate this data in making clinical judgments toward the patient plan of care and follow-up.
Prefer Family Practice Nurse Practitioner with experience managing patients in an outpatient setting. Prefer experience working in Women's Health and Pediatrics.
Requires VA registered nurse license, VA Family Nurse Practitioner, VA Nurse Practitioner Prescriptive Authority License. Must provide own transportation. Criminal background investigation is required.
