JOB SUMMARY: Provide first-line leadership to a team of Highway Solution Specialists to ensure transportation solutions to new and existing customers exceed expectations while internal financial deliverables are maximized.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Demonstrate effective leadership skills by maintaining a high professional standard, holding team members accountable to growth and profitability goals and delivering results
Assume Director responsibilities as required
Execute all Highway Solutions Specialist duties in an exemplary fashion
Proactively develop, offer, and execute creative and innovative solutions involving all modes of transportation that best suites a customer’s need
Coordinate with other locations in the Network to manage loads and utilize capacity to expectations
Complete required operational and administrative load management requirements, including but not limited to: order management, pickup/delivery management, track and trace, problem resolution and “system housekeeping”
Negotiate rates with carriers to achieve optimal margin levels and seek the best market level pricing with carriers.
Develop spot and long term strategies with carriers to identify their capacity needs on a regular basis and match those needs with consistent opportunities
Identify and develop business opportunities from new and existing customers
Assist in the training and development of Highway Solutions Specialists
Provide highest level of service to customers and carriers
Conduct daily operational team meetings to ensure external and internal deliverables are achieved
Communicate daily operational events to Director and Management as required
Assist in the creation of required reports and metrics as needed
Facilitates the assignment of Team Members to accounts and responsibilities as issued by the Director
Commitment to 24/7 availability to customers and carriers
Other duties as assigned
Demonstrated experience in a leadership capacity
Ability to deliver results in a team setting
Significant multi-modal transportation knowledge
Excellent customer service skills
Strong communication, organization and negotiation skills
Intermediate knowledge of Excel and Word is required
Minimum 3 years in the transportation industry is required.
Undergraduate degree preferred but not required
