JOB FUNCTION: Mechanics maintain, repair, adjust and align machinery and mechanical equipment, such as hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyor systems, processing and production machines an equipment, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufactures specifications. Mechanics will use hand tools, power tools, hot work tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments. They also will use analytical troubleshooting techniques to minimize equipment down time, minimize cost and provide process improvements to eliminate losses.

DUTIES AND WORK PROCEDURES:
The Mechanical Maintenance Technician will dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools. Examine form and texture of parts to detect abnormalities. Inspect used/failed parts to determine root cause of failure using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments. Install special functional and structural parts in devices.
Set-up and operate drill press, grinder and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts. Train others in routine preventative maintenance; failure phenomena data collection and root cause analysis. Operate equipment such as fork lifts, serial lifts, and small cranes.
Schedule and plan work orders - orderingt, receiving, organizing, stocking, staging and distributing parts, materials and supplies. Manage inventory control and documentation libraries. Coordinate with in-house and outside engineers, vendors and contractors.

Physical Demands:
In degree of stenuousness, this job is considered heavy work. Heavy work is defined as exerting up to 100 pounds of force occassionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. This job requires frequent climbing of ladders and stairs and overhead work. Work is performed primarily outdoors.

Work Hours:
There will be three shifts per 24-hour period and shift rotation will be required. Maximum overtime may extend from 12 - 24 hours per week.

Requirements:
High school diploman or GED

Three (3) years prior experience with industrial repair and operation is required.

Basic computer skills (Windows, Word, Excel, CMMS software such as Maximo).

Experience with Fabrication - welding, machining, and basic metal working.

Coal handling or other bulk material handling experience is preferred.

Ability to read and understand electrical, equipment manuals, pneumatic schematics as well as mechanical drawings.

Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
