Laht Neppur Brewing Company has been in operation since 2005, and is based in Waitsburg, Washington. We are an award winning brewery that works hard and plays hard.

We are looking for a Lead Brewer that has a passion for craft brews, thinks outside-the-box, is self-motivated, takes initiative, and enjoys a challenge. This position will be responsible for leading up Laht Neppur Brewing Company’s new production facility. This includes responsibility for all brewing operations, quality control, safety and compliance, and inventory. In the future, the lead brewer may be overseeing a small staff to assist with the operations of the new facility.

We are seeking an individual that can commit to at least 5 years in this leadership position.

Job Description

Qualifications:
•A minimum of 3 years of professional experience brewing on a commercial system (education may be substituted for employment, year for year)

•Packaging experience - racking and bottling

•Able to lift 55 lbs. and move at least 165 lbs., and work in hot and cold environments

•Excellent time management, prioritization, and task scheduling skills

•Be self-directed and work effectively independently

•Able to use Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and basic computer software

•Organized and detail oriented

•Be resourceful and adaptive

•Have the desire to learn and teach about brewing

•Technical/mechanical expertise troubleshooting and fixing brewing and bottling equipment is a plus (but will train the right person to develop these skills)

Responsibilities:
•Maintain a safe and regulatory compliant work environment

•Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all equipment, tanks, and work areas

•Operate all aspects of the brewing facility - brewery, cellar, grain handling

•Maintain brew sheets, inventory, and governmental compliance paperwork

•Participate in beer festivals and events

•Evaluate and monitor beer and raw materials

•Keep inventory of raw materials and beer

•Problem solve and troubleshoot, and get assistance when needed

•Work and communicate well with other staff, customers, and outside parties

•Train, supervise, and motivate other staff

•Develop new beer recipes, and maintain the quality of our current beer recipes

•Perform other tasks as assigned (there is nothing that the owners would make an employee do that they would not do themselves)

This is a full-time salaried position that allows for a flexible schedule. Incentives are available for this position when agreed achieved goals are met.

This position would be focused at our new Milton-Freewater production facility, which is about 30 miles south of the Waitsburg, Washington brewery. The new facility is a hodge-podge of equipment: 1,200-gallon steam-fired kettle, 30-barrel mash tun, 1,200-gallon hot liquor tank, 60-barrel jacketed fermenters, 800 - 1,200-gallon conditioning tanks, and a 22-ounce bottler.

Milton-Freewater is located in northeastern Oregon (just 8 miles south of Walla Walla, Washington). It is a community surrounded by orchards, wheat fields, and vineyards set against the beautiful Blue Mountains. Milton-Freewater is situated within the acclaimed Walla Walla Valley Wine Appellation; the area is well known for its agricultural bounty. There’s lots of sunshine, and recreation actives are available year-round. According to the most recent figures, the population is a little over 7,000.
