BUSINESS UNIT OVERVIEW
Internal Audit independently assesses the firm’s internal control structure. We provide assurance that financial reporting is reliable, that there is compliance with applicable laws and regulations and that the firm’s operations are effectively controlled. We assist management in commercially managing risk by providing advice in developing control solutions and monitoring the implementation of management’s control measures. IA assists the firm’s Board of Directors’ Audit Committee in fulfilling its oversight responsibilities and regularly interacts with the external independent auditors.
The data analytics team intends to provide following services and solutions to various business and technology audits:
a. Conduct basic analysis of data using data mining and statistical techniques to ensure audit is comprehensive, moving from sample based approach to population based one
b. Perform visualization analytics through high end tool like Spotfire, basically weave a story around available data and build the ability to drill down to the most granular level
c. Present key findings from data analysis to various stakeholders and socialize data analytics as a capability within IA which could harnessed by other audit programs/projects
You will be expected to:
Understand various phases of business and technology audit
Analyze and comprehend data architectures (data models, schema & database) associated with audits, this could be for entire gamut of databases - Operational Data Stores, Data warehouse, Data Marts etc
Extract data from data stores, profile data and decipher the quality aspect of it, it is important to ensure that quality of data being used for various analytical efforts are very high
Build and manage metadata (data dictionary) for wider audience, this would assist non-technical auditors to understand the data analytics artifacts
Translate audit scenarios and requirements into technical specifications, build queries which could range from simple to very complex and test out the query results
Develop reports on extracted data to help auditors uncover potential risks and frauds in business
Build visualization analytics to depict stories from the data, this would require to paint the big picture for management reporting on potential risk and incorporate the ability to drill down to the lowest level while doing root cause analysis
Present key insights to auditors using advanced visualization tools, and socialize the data analytics capability
Preferred Qualifications SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
Proficient in Database – Data Architecture, Data Modeling, Data Load
High level of proficiency in SQL in various databases MS SQL Server, DB2 etc
Good knowledge of scripting database macros, stored procedure and automation will be important
Experience of any visualization tool (Spotfire, Qlikview or Tableau) will be an added advantage
Knowledge of basic statistics (Time Series Analysis, Correlation, Regression) and it’s application to data
Strong acumen to relate data with business and bring out issues and gaps in the business
Good in presenting findings from data research work to senior management
Certification in database and analytics would be good
Good communication skill both written and verbal

Technical Skills - Demonstrates strong technical skills required for the role, pays attention to detail, takes initiative to broaden his/her knowledge and demonstrates appropriate data and analytical skills
