Responsible for assisting the Manager of Academic Support Centers and for leading the activities of the professional learning specialists in the Success Services for Students department.
Duties of Position
Collaborates with the Academic Services Centers manager in the recruitment, training, and supervision of all professional tutors/learning specialists, supplemental instruction leaders and student employees. Evaluates all part-time employees and student aides. Provides direct student support through the learning strategy sessions offered by the department. Collaborates with Academic Support Centers' manager, deans, department chairs, and program coordinators in the development of the supplemental instruction program. Develops supplemental instruction training materials for supplemental instruction leaders. Assists Academic Centers' manager in developing and maintaining operating policies and procedures. Collaborates with Academic Centers' manager in developing, managing and monitoring all staff and schedules to align with student demand for services. Works with lead tutor/specialists and classified staff to ensure accurate data capture by the tracking system. Maintains effective relationships with faculty in order to solicit input and feedback related to maintaining consistency in serving students. Collaborates with Academic Centers' manager in delivering a comprehensive training program for specialists and supplemental instruction leaders and student employees. Researches, shares and adopts best practices for both Success Services for Students department and for supplemental instruction programs. Collaborates with the Academic Services Centers' manager in developing and maintaining both the Success Services for Students and the Supplemental Instruction websites. Collects and maintains data for program analysis and review. Assist the Centers' Manager in the preparation of needed reports for program assessment and accountability including program review, ICCB and HLC. Actively promotes all Success Services for Students services including supplemental instruction. Performs other duties as assigned.
Master's degree in education or related field preferred. Bachelor degree required.
Minimum of three years supervisory experience in a college/university academic support or tutoring center. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Three years teaching experience preferred.
