Responsibilities

Responsibilities include safely and efficiently operating and monitoring all building systems; understanding the engineering design and operational aspects of the base building systems and be able to immediately recognize system performance deficiencies and respond to operational and emergency situations; supporting the Chief Engineer to ensure safe operation of the building; must be able to participate in the engineering on-call rotation to include working weekends as assigned: maintaining the site during inclement weather; emergency planning; protecting and improving the value of the owner’s asset and ensure that building machinery and systems meet or exceed their expected life through proper maintenance procedure; assisting the team in maintaining compliance with the Engineering Services Compliances Program; providing support to the Chief Engineer on all standard Jones Lang LaSalle initiatives such as 4Sight, Engineering Services Compliance Program, IPMP, Energy Star, etc.; possess strong knowledge of Microsoft’s Outlook, Excel and Word programs; assist in monitoring all contractor work (building and tenant) being performed at the sites to ensure Construction Rules & Regulations compliance; work closely with the property management team; help prepare the engineer’s operating and capital portion for the Annual Budget, understanding the preventive maintenance and work order system for the building and completing assigned tasks, including 360 work order tickets; completing training as assigned aimed at safety and expanding the capabilities of all engineering team members; possess and/or demonstrate a diplomatic attitude at all times toward tenants and Jones Lang LaSalle employees.

Qualifications

Engineer needed to assist in the operation of a 406,028 sq ft Class A office building in Washington, DC. Universal CFC certification required; strong mechanical skills with a thorough knowledge of HVAC, pneumatics, variable air volume units, fire protection equipment and emergency generator, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems; the ability to troubleshoot HVAC systems, experience with computer based HVAC/energy management systems; and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and written. Trade School Certification or willingness to expand knowledge by attending outside courses also required.
