Description
Position Title: Buyer – Factory and General Services

Reports To: Commercial Manager

Location: Franklin, TN

Purpose of role

Manage/Support aspects of central procurement of Services within the North American Region. Support local, regional and global initiatives by leveraging supplier relationships and strategic partnerships to drive standardization and leveraging volume across all regions and segments. Responsibilities include financial and operational risk mitigation for the segments, maximizing value for money and delivering local and regional General Services Buying on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead/support local and regional buying strategies
  • Deliver client management and value improvement targets
  • Lead bid activities, obtain competitive bids and identify negotiation opportunities with a focus on Total Cost of Ownership principles (savings and risk management)
  • Act as a contact for local and regional suppliers and develop/maintain supplier relationships
  • Ensure effective risk management of the supply base through robust contracts and monitoring
  • Ensure compliance with proper procedures, policies, systems and controls
  • Lead/Support global or regional projects as required
  • Manage projects as needed to drive value to the business
  • Accountable for operations and business results
  • Responsible for savings reporting and reporting on value delivered to the business
  • Negotiate and execute contracts that mitigate risk for the business
  • Act as point of contact for contract-related issues
  • Influence clients to align with regional and global buying strategies
  • Complete market analysis and industry benchmarking as needed
  • Implement, align, train and develop diverse suppliers
  • Ensure value for money and operate within project budgets
  • Utilize the Mars Strategic Sourcing Methodology MSSM
Key Skills Required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; both oral and written
  • Knowledge of strategic sourcing, buying/negotiating and risk management
  • Ability to influence others not in direct span of control
  • Excellent team working and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to prioritize activities appropriately and make trade-off decisions as appropriate
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization (written/verbal/presentation)
  • Experience with supplier management (KPIs and supplier relationship management)Excellent analytical skills for financial assessments and issue identification, along with flexible thinking to adapt to changing markets

Minimum Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of experience in procurement, or buying operations.
  • Bachelors degree preferred
  • Successful completion of a drug and background screen

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in procurement preferable in the area of indirect services.

Other experiences/skills

  • Demonstrated ability to influence others not in a direct span of control
  • Proven ability to prioritize activities appropriately
  • Buying indirect services a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills; both oral and written
  • Knowledge of buying, negotiating and risk management
  • Working knowledge of contract writing, contract law
  • Experience with supplier management
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
