We have an immediate need for a talented electrical engineer in the GC/MS Hardware R&D Group for the Chemical Analysis Solutions Unit. This position is part of a small R&D team working on next-generation products for the chemical analysis market. You will work with colleagues in a multidisciplinary team environment (electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, scientists and software engineers) and contribute through designing and testing prototype hardware. You will also work in a rewarding and exciting R&D environment emphasizing design and verification for total customer satisfaction through the creative achievement of performance, cost, and time-to-market trade-offs in bringing Agilent's chemical analysis systems to high-volume markets.
Responsibilities include: - Designing and implementing electronics for analytical instrumentation and accessories that include mixed analog and digital circuit design for instrument control and signal processing, high voltage circuits/components, and firmware.- Collaborating with diverse engineering and scientific disciplines to design, develop, and test hardware systems, and to resolve technical problems to ensure cost-effective, high-quality product manufacturing and ultimate customer satisfaction. - Providing support for other parts of the R&D organization. - Utilizing time-management skills for the timely completion of technical assignments and design work.
BS degree in EE, EE/CS, or equivalent; MS is preferred
Some experience in an electrical engineering role is desirable.
- Strong skills in Analog Design to include some of the following:
o Discrete, op-amps, integrated functions
o High voltage (RF and DC)
o Control systems (PID)
o Precision analog
o Mixed signal A/Ds & D/As
- Strong skills in Digital Design to include some of the following.
o FPGA design (schematic or HDL environment)
o TTL/CMOS/ECL/PECL interfacing
o Micro-processor/micro-controller familiarity
- Knowledge of Firmware/Software.
- Some experience in PCA/PCB design is desirable.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
- Works effectively in a multi-disciplined environment
