Assist the Bus Driver in overseeing the health, welfare, safety of all children riding the SAS vehicle. Understanding the driver is in a temporary supervisory position over the bus monitor while transporting passengers. You will be responsible for the entire bus at the end of each run to assure that all children have exited the vehicle. In this position you will assist the children in entering, exiting and ensures harnesses are secured and remain fastened at all times while the vehicle is in motion. Assures each child is released to the Y of Central Maryland, SAS program with a designated adult at each stop; Ensures that the deliver activities & messages to the receiving adult; Uses quite voice when talking with the children; You will respond and answer routine questions & discuss routines issues with the parents in a positive manner. Other responsibilities include assisting the Bus Driver in keeping the vehicle clean & safe as well as helping with conducting vehicle emergency evacuations. You will assist by providing guidance and maintaining a positive relationship between SAS program, the surrounding schools and the community. Ideal candidates will have the ability to problem solve on an intellectual vs. an emotional level. S/he must have the ability to focus on solutions vs. problems. Successful candidates will have a track record showing evidence of their ability to conduct one''s self in a professional manner at all times with parents, schools and community through appearance, behavior and attitude.

Required Skills

Must have an up-to-date Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certification or be able to obtain them (within 90 days of employment).

Must support the Y of Central Maryland philosophy, mission and core values.

Maintain a positive image for self and Y programs within the community and the school environment. Must be able to lift and move supplies weighing 35 pounds and/or child who may weigh up to 65 pounds; Bi-Lingual in both Spanish & English will be an asset.

Required Experience

High School Diploma or GED; Must be 21 years of age
