Purpose and Scope:
The Receiving Supervisor is responsible for the receipt, check-in, distribution, and storage of merchandise for the gift shops at Coral World Ocean Park.

The Receiving Supervisor will coordinate postal and shipping needs, and perform other maintenance duties as required. The Receiving Supervisor assists with the daily operation of the gift shop; will be fully trained as a Sales Associate, and will be expected to cover the store register/floor on days specified by the monthly labor schedule.

The Receiving Supervisor

performs Sales Associate duties such as merchandising functions in an effort to achieve or exceed sales goals. These functions are primarily selling and customer service, but also consist of merchandise presentation, stocking and tagging, and inventory control.

Supervision and Guidance:
The Receiving Supervisor:
Will report to the Gift Shop Manager. In the absence of the Gift Shop Manager, to WTCNM corporate (Operations and Purchasing network, etc.) or, if appropriate, to Coral World Administration.

Receiving Supervisor

Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise the daily receiving and warehouse functions.

Follow established WTCNM receiving procedures for receipt, check-in, marking and distribution of merchandise to each retail operation.

Monitor the quality of received merchandise and alert the Store Manager and/or buyer of damages/excessive wear and tear.

Insure that merchandise received is handled correctly to minimize damage from internal movement.

Secure the merchandise in the warehouse, and in the movement to retail operations.

Maintain inventory control procedures for stock in the warehouse.

Receive goods into and maintain the inventory control system for each store.

Assist with physical inventory counts for store location.

Perform cycle-counts as directed by the Store Manager or WTCNM corporate. Additionally, all gift shop staff is required to assist with the annual physical inventory conducted by WTCNM corporate.

Responsible for maintaining neat and orderly receiving and warehouse areas.

Maintain an organized office and an organized filing system.

Coordinate and ensure the timely delivery of stock to retail operations.

Perform light maintenance duties as may be assigned by the Store Manager.

Maintain in good working order any equipment assigned to the warehouse area.

Cultivate good working relationship with Vendor contacts in order to facilitate the timely receipt of invoices and freight charges, as well as the accurate reporting of damages and shortages in shipments.

Thoroughly understand and exercise the duties and responsibilities of a Sales Associate (listed below).

Maintain high customer service standards; Strive to create a “team” atmosphere within the stores, and contribute to staff development.

Ensure compliance with WTCNM’s philosophy of operation for the shop.

Will perform other duties as required by WTCNM, including but not limited to:

Furnish accurate and complete reports (daily/weekly/monthly) to corporate and regional office on a timely basis, as requested.

Provide operational support for functions and special events at Coral World Park.

Sales Associate

Duties and Responsibilities:
To maintain a satisfactory productivity level, achieved by working to meet or exceed weekly sales goals.

To provide the highest quality of customer service to Coral World Ocean Park guests by combining appropriate sales skills with an awareness of customers and their needs.

To perform key selling behaviors; Ask questions to identify customer’s needs. Suggest specific merchandise. Offer product advice. Suggest additional merchandise. Smile, thank the customer, and invite them back.

To be familiar with all merchandise in the selling area; Know the location and status of merchandise. Be familiar with all markdowns, special promotions, and clearance merchandise. Be aware of what is stored in the stockroom.

To acquire and demonstrate product knowledge skills; Become familiar with product information, be familiar with merchandise care and other instructions contained on hang tags, labels, etc.

Maintain a professional attitude with sincerity and enthusiasm, demonstrating a commitment to the visitor as the most important person in the store.

Tactfully handle any problems that may arise in connection with a customer.

Assist in maintaining the appropriate stock levels in the retail areas; Replenish merchandise displays on the floor from the stockroom. Take stock counts as requested. Notify the Gift Shop Manager and/or Receiving Supervisor when stock of best-selling merchandise is low. Re-tag merchandise when necessary.

Monitor the physical appearance of the displays, making sure they are visually appealing and orderly; Maintain the displays in an above-average manner. Keep the register area neat and free from clutter. Straighten and organize displays.

Learn and use all of WTCNM’s systems and procedures in order to assist in processing the necessary paperwork; Complete all basic transactions correctly. Assist in completing price changes as requested. Clean as needed, and adhere to a “clean as you go” policy.

Assist in maintaining inventory control; Obtain approval on returns, discounts, employee purchases, and other situations requiring authorization. Be alert to means of preventing shoplifting, and follow established procedures when theft does occur.

Be able to assume responsibility for store opening and closing procedures, independently and on time.

Maintain a neat and professional appearance in accordance with both the CWP and WTCNM employee handbook.

Skills Required

Minimum 18 years of age.

Ability to meet federal, state and local requirements for employment.

Must possess a clean, valid State driver’s license.

A high school graduate with additional college education in business management, retail or merchandise related courses preferred.

Work experience in the retail field can be considered in lieu of college class work; proven success in a retail environment a plus.

Ability to lift moderate to large sized boxes and goods, weighting up to 75 pounds; unpack merchandise and place on storage or display shelves.

Ability to work flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Strong computer skills, including use of data entry software and hardware / POS.

Attention to detail, accuracy, ability to multi-task (and complete work independently), and time management skills



Be able to take direction with a positive attitude, as well as demonstrating initiative when necessary.

Ability to spend extended lengths of time standing, assisting customers, maintaining displays, and processing deliveries.

Dedication to maintaining a positive, professional attitude with all park guests and employees.

Capacity to be a courteous, helpful, ‘team’ contributor.

Be able to provide 2-3 referrals (including current phone number); at least one of which must be professional/employment related.
