Under direct supervision of the Department Director, Clinical Leader, ED Physician and Physicians Assistant and direction of a registered nurse, administers patient care and related activities, services and/or procedures to promote the physical and emotional health and personal comfort needs for assigned patients. Delivery of patient care includes data collection, documentation, communication and implementation of patient care interventions in accordance with state Nursing Practice Act and unit specific standards. The Emergency Department Paramedic provides care to infants, pediatric and adolescent patients between 12 to 17 years of age; adult patients between 18 to 64 years; and geriatric patients 65 years and older. Assists Physicians, Physicians Assistants and Registered Nurses in the performance of daily tasks. Assists RNs in the stocking of medial supplies and equipment throughout the department. Sets up procedural trays/supplies/equipment for specific procedures. Performs routine phlebotomy and may initiate IV access upon the physician|
's written order. Apply appropriate splinting as ordered for patients, and assist with spinal immobilization of injured and trauma patients.
- High school diploma or equivalent and successful completion of an accredited Paramedic Program.
- Basic Life Support. Kansas/National Paramedic.
- Pre-hospital care preferred, and/or hospital Emergency department experience preferred.
