School/Unit Financial Administration Sub-Unit ------------ Location USA - MA - Cambridge Job Function Finance Time Status Full-time Department University Financial Aid Liaison Office Salary Grade 059 Union 00 - Non Union, Exempt or Temporary Duties & Responsibilities Reporting to Director of Student Financial Services, the University Financial Aid Liaison Officer is responsible for interpreting financial aid regulations for the Harvard community and ensuring continued access to and proper stewardship of federal aid dollars. This position works closely with the University’s Directors of Financial Aid, to ensure full compliance with policies of federal and state financial aid programs. While each school at Harvard operates a distinct financial aid program, close coordination among the financial aid offices at Harvard’s schools is necessary to ensure consistent compliance with federal and institution-wide regulations and best practices as well as consolidated reporting for the University. This coordination is one of the key tasks of the University Financial Aid Liaison Office and the University Financial Liaison Officer, who runs this office. Responsible for university-wide expenditure reports and application for state and federal funds. Coordinates allocation of funds among the college and professional and graduate schools Serves as an authoritative resource with regard to interpretations of federal and state laws and regulations and institutional policy. Assists the university’s financial aid operations to take full advantage of technological improvements. Administers the university’s financial aid Quality Assurance Program. Verifies and analyzes audit findings and responds accordingly. Develops training opportunities for financial aid officers and staff. Manage the annual domestic and international private loan RFI process. Assisting with the creation and implementation of policies and procedures. Responsible for the university’s Financial Aid Policies and Procedures website. Prepares and monitors department budget and supervises two staff members. Other various duties as assigned by the Director. Basic Qualifications Bachelors Degree Required. 5-7 years of extensive knowledge and experience in financial aid administration at the senior management level. Broad knowledge of spreadsheet, database, and word processing software (i.e. MS Excel, MS Access, MS Word). Additional Qualifications Experience with PowerFAIDS. Excellent analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to multi-task and work within an industry that is constantly changing.
