Position Embedded Systems Engineer Location Newtown PA Reports to Manager of Engineering Job Summary Optellios is in need of an Embedded Systems Engineer who is comfortable in a small company environment where they will be given a great deal of personal responsibility We produce fiberoptic sensors with applications in physical security and infrastructure monitoring Your primary responsibility will be to develop and maintain the firmware for an embedded sensor platform This will require working within a RTOS handling communication data and control You will also work with the research and development team to develop unique signal processing algorithms and then implement them in an efficient and robust manner on a DSP You will be responsible for designing protocols for chiptochip as well as offboard communication You will need proficiency in thread interrupt and memory management while working in an RTOS framework You will follow the firmware through the lifecycle from development to debug testing documentation and support This will involve the use of debug tools (JTAG) as well as lab equipment such as lasers and oscilloscopes Close collaboration with the hardware team during development and debug will be expected in this tightknit work environment A successful candidate should be a goaloriented team player and a lifelong learner He or she should have strong analytical skills and the ability to propose creative solutions to complex problems Requirements A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science 3+ years experience in embedded firmware and software including Real Time Operating Systems Experience with QNX Neutrino application and driver development Experience with TI Code Composer and DSPBIOS Experience with TI DaVinci OMAP or ARM processors Experience with data acquisition and signal processing Expert in CC++ comfortable with object oriented design practices and scripting languages Ability to multitask and work independently with minimal supervision Strong interpersonal and communication skills US citizens or permanent residents strongly preferred Additional Preferred Skills Startup small company or small team experience with a track record of meeting deliverables Experience with analog and digital circuit design schematic capture and layout HDL expertise and familiarity with FPGA architectures Experience with Eclipse Trace and Xilinx ISE Experience with Linux Experience with Transport Layer protocols (TCP UDP) Experience with Matlab and LabView Technical writing Experience with optical and fiberoptic instrumentation Experience in the Security Industry Keywords RTOS QNX Firmware Embedded Sensors Data Acquisition DSP DaVinvi OMAP ARM Linux Code Composer
