Youth and Family Services Assignment:
Provides professional level behavioral health evaluation/assessment, supportive intervention, information and referral, outreach, and educational services through direct practice, case management, group facilitation, community education, presentations, consultation and collaboration.
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology or closely related field and four (4) years work experience in Social Work, Counseling or closely related field.
Youth and Family Services assignment: A Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or closely related field, and a minimum of two (2) years experience in the counseling or social work field is required. Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners Licensure, with clinical license preferred.
Paiute Neighborhood Center assignment: Must be bilingual (English and Spanish). Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements:
A valid driver license with no major driving citations in the last 39 months may be required. Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on division/department/section assignment.

Senior Centers - Additional Responsibilities Provide supportive intervention, assessment, and assistance to individuals on physical needs, and social and emotional problems. City of Scottsdale senior services social workers will provide case management for seniors in Scottsdale for a variety of reasons including resource information, stabilization, transition, loss, crisis, support, advocacy, and assistance with applications for state, federal and local programs. Maintain long term relationship with senior citizens providing varying services as needs occur. Willingness to be the HUB connecting senior citizen and their family members with all agencies that may be of benefit to them Willingness to provide in depth assistance in whatever form that takes to assist a senior citizen in receiving whatever services are required for safe, healthy, socialized vital existence.
Provide ongoing intermittent support and advocacy throughout the senior citizens life span. Advocate for the frail elderly without a voice within the social services network, criminal justice and medical community. Provide ongoing assistance to seniors and their families in the lengthy process of applying for long term care, veteran benefits and other programs. Provide protection for seniors with limited capacities (whether physical or mental) and assist in protecting them from exploitation. Maintain up to date knowledge of changes in Medicare and health benefits. Function as the referral point for code enforcement, fire department, police, hospital, apartment complex, nursing home, and any community member that has concerns for an elderly citizen. Paiute Neighborhood Center Assignment: Advocate for clients regarding state benefits, tenant-landlord issues, educational concerns, and work-related issues. Assist with paperwork and translations, as necessary. Do data input to track cases. Interface with Paiute Campus agencies to coordinate services. Assist with special events and holiday programs for the community. May provide social services for youth, families, adults, and senior citizens. Scottsdale Teen Employment Assignment: Assist teens with preparing for a competitive job market with individual case management sessions and intakes to discuss their job seeking goals and assess their readiness to enter the employment market. Teach job seeking techniques to teens which include creating professional resumes, cover letters and employment applications to be utilized on their job search. Facilitate regular workshops and community presentations on various job seeking and career building topics including in the Scottsdale Unified School District schools and City of Scottsdale facilities, Scottsdale Public Library. Assist teens seeking other services including career/college guidance and school options exploration. Collaborate, partner and work with various internal departments including the Library, Parks & Recreation and Human Resources to further promote program services and serve youth more collaboratively. Pursue partnerships and opportunities to build employment and career shadowing opportunities for Scottsdale teens. Participate in committees, partnerships and other groups to foster opportunities for partnerships and opportunities for Scottsdale youth such as the Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce Workforce Development Committee and City of Scottsdale Diversity Advisory Committee. Maintain knowledge and understanding of current events, statistics and reports relating to youth employment and job market by participating with workforce development activities, and meetings in addition to researching and reviewing reports and articles. Refer prepared and ready teen workforce to Scottsdale citizens and businesses. Conduct home visits and screenings for Scottsdale citizens requesting to hire STEP teens. Coordinate annual Teen Opportunity Expo and hiring events within SUSD schools in addition to offering events and programs that offer opportunities to gain further skills, opportunities, employment and certifications like hosting the food service test and offering the STEP Academy. Participates in professional development through appropriate conferences, workshop and seminars. Youth and Family Services Assignment: Performs assessments, intervention, direct service, education and information and referral to citizens in need of assistance including health care, employment, academic opportunities, career development, social services, behavioral health services, family conflict, parenting, behavior management and outreach. Provides diversion services to juveniles referred by courts including intakes, education, case management, written reports, record keeping, statistics, court communication and court notification of juvenile case status. Maintains positive working relationships with the Maricopa County Superior court Juvenile Division, Scottsdale City Court, other court personnel, probation officers, police, School Resource Officers, Police Crisis Intervention, other city agencies, the Scottsdale Unified School District, other school personnel and community agencies. Assists in the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of services, programs and special events for youth, families, seniors, volunteers and community groups. Assists in the development of grant applications relating to the funding of program services. Responds to private citizens, schools and social service agencies requests for assistance, community education, supportive intervention, task forces and collaborations on issues affecting youth and families. Provides supportive guidance and collaboration to other city department staff members. Through teamwork and commitment provides the highest level of quality service, training and consultation. Maintains contact with civic groups, social service organizations and other professionals. Serves on community boards and task forces. Provides presentation to the city and community at large on services, trends, laws, substance abuse prevention education and behavioral health issues related to youth, families.
