Responsibilities for this Position:

General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems (GDAIS) has an immediate opening for a Senior Principal Systems Engineer to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nations fundamental defense services. GDAIS employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to create and manage various GDAIS and client technologies. Key Responsibilities
Selected candidate will be a member of the Technology Solutions team supporting DHS/US-CERT. In this capacity, the candidate will participate in the identification, evaluation, and integration of existing and future network analyses capabilities. He/she will analyze, design, develop and test DHS/US-CERT systems that are reliable, maintainable, scalable and secure, meeting or exceeding customer requirements and seamlessly integrating with existing infrastructure. Additional responsibilities may include writing scripts, building prototypes and proof of concepts, optimizing databases, capturing, documenting, assessing, and validating acceptance testing criteria, and the documentation of scripts, un-compiled/translated code, database design, stored procedures, and system design.

  • Apply current technology to solve technical problems and ensure system and applications performance is optimize.
  • Translate functional specifications into technical specifications.
  • Collaborate with team members on best practices, code review, internal tools and process improvement.
  • Deliver innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers changing business needs.
  • Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the GDAIS culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures.
  • Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure GDAISs services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices.

Basic Qualifications:

Candidates must demonstrate passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of various engineering systems and the ability to further advance GDAIS as well as DHS/US-CERT technology.

The Senior Principal Systems Engineer position requires a bachelors degree in a specialized area, field or the equivalent and at least ten years of related work experience. Applicants with a masters degree and a minimum of eight years of related experience are also eligible. This position requires Web application development experience and familiarity with underlying Web technologies and standards such as HTML/XHTML/CSS -- experience with rational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle and working knowledge of scripting/programming languages such as Java, PHP, Perl, Python, Coldfusion, and Javascript.

An active Top Secret (SCI eligible) clearance is required at the time of hire. Selected applicants will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must clear the DHS Suitability process. Due to the nature of work performed within DHS facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
