The Florida Farm to School Partnership is a statewide program supporting the USDA’s Farm to School Initiative under the leadership of the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences and Florida’s Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. The Farm to School Partnership envisions a state in which Farm to School programs are an essential component of robust food systems and the quality and impact of its programs contribute substantially to the quality of life for school children, farmers, and their communities. The University of Florida’s Project’s Primary Investigators (PIs) seek a full-time Coordinator to provide district-wide leadership and support of the program’s goals and objectives in each of the five University of Florida IFAS’s Extension Districts. The Coordinator will promote and expand Farm to School activities at the multi-county level within an extensive and diverse statewide network of school authorities, parents, and children; farmers and distributors; University of Florida Extension faculty and administrators; staff of federal and state agencies; and representatives from other public and private organizations. Responsibilities include supporting county and state faculty in the design and development of nutrition education and/or agricultural production training programs to support Farm to School program priorities, maintaining communication among team members as well as designing, leading and participating in extension trainings, outreach events and team meetings. A Master’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree plus two years of experience in a related field is required; experience in agriculture, nutrition, or food system development a plus. The successful candidate must be able to integrate quickly and effectively into a busy team. Excellent communication skills are essential. This is a full-time, exempt, grant-funded position renewable annually pending satisfactory progress. The position is based in the South UF- IFAS Extension District (specific county to be determined by the Extension District Director) reporting to the UF- IFAS PIs of the Florida Farm to School Partnership.
